Four ways to help build yourself back up after a break up

“Breaking up is never easy I know…” so goes the line in the famous Abba song. And it’s true – whether you are the instigator of the break up or the one being broken up with, it’s never easy. Either you are breaking someone’s heart or you’re having your heart broken. But, don’t despair! As the saying goes, there are plenty more fish in the sea and it is true – you will go on to meet someone who is even more perfect for you, even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.

Here are four of our tried and trusted ways to help build yourself back up after a break up:

  • Allow yourself time to grieve the relationship – after a break up, you need a bit of time to wallow and process your own thoughts and that’s ok! Do whatever works for you, eat pizza, watch romantic movies, listen to sad songs – get those tears out. But after that short period, make sure you focus your energies in a positive, happy and optimistic way!
  • Book a holiday! A change of scene works wonders, as does a dose of some good weather! So, book a cheap deal in the sun somewhere and soak up those rays, go swimming, go for cocktails – and maybe have a cheeky little holiday fling! Getting some distance
  • Delete your ex’s number – off everything!! And we mean everything – don’t hav them on Facebook, Instagram, Whats’app etc etc. And don’t be tempted to do that ting where you write their number down somewhere “just in case” – trust us, the first time you get drunk you will find that number and you will message your ex and that is NEVER a good idea!! Don’t be tempted to “facebook or insta stalk” them – seeing pictures of them will only make you feel worse.
  • Focus on feeling fabulous and “getting back to your glow” – when you fell like you’re looking at your best, you show off your glow! So do whatever makes you feel at your best – get a new haircut, put some fake tan on, buy a new outfit and strut your stuff!
